Global Saskatoon receives 3 RTDNA award nominations

Global Saskatoon has been nominated for three Prairie RTDNA awards. The awards honour the best journalists, programs, stations and newsgathering organizations in radio, television and digital.

Meaghan Craig has been nominated for the Ron Laidlaw Award for continuing coverage of Fentanyl in Saskatchewan. She was the first to break the story of the province making Naloxone home kits available to families in the Saskatoon region.

Sports director Jack Haskins has been nominated for a sports award for his story Seeing Through His Son’s Eyes. Haskins introduced viewers to Wyatt Nelson-Zook, a young man who help his visually impaired father “see” Saskatoon Blades hockey games.

Global Saskatoon has also been nominated for a Digital Media Award for globalnews.ca/saskatoon, which recognizes overall excellence in the quality of daily online or mobile news reporting.

The winners will be announced at the Prairie regional meetings taking place on April 23 in Medicine Hat, Alta.

Last year, Global News was nominated for 12 national RTDNA awards, including one nomination in every digital category.

Global News ended up winning multiple awards.
