ABOVE: Sixty two seagulls were found stuck in a partially covered scrap bin behind a tofu factory on March 11. The soybean residue left an oil on the birds so workers from the Wildlife Rescue Association of BC gave them a bath. The association plans on setting the gulls free today – Mar 21, 2016

The animals had to get a full oil spill bath from workers at Burnaby’s Wildlife Rescue.

The 62 birds flew into a vat of tofu waste covered by a metal grid at Superior Tofu on East Pender Street. The company had installed it to try to stop the seagulls from eating the pulp residue.

The birds still managed to get in the vat, but they couldn’t get out.
