BCTF president Jim Iker stepping down

B.C. Teachers’ Federation president Jim Iker is stepping down and we are expected to learn today who his replacement will be.

Iker was known for helping guide B.C. teachers through three months of strike action in 2014 as they battled the province over funding, class size and wages.

He eventually negotiated a six year deal with the province to end the labour war, which included a 7.25 per cent pay raise for teachers.
