EDMONTON – It was a rare excellent week for the Edmonton Oilers and their No. 1 goaltender.

The team went 3-1 over a six-day stretch while Cam Talbot went 3-0-0 with a 0.65 goals-against average, .981 save percentage and one shutout, which earned him the NHL’s first star of the week.

He made 31 saves in a 2-1 overtime win against the Buffalo Sabres March 1.

Talbot then stopped all 35 shots against the Philadelphia Flyers for his 10th career shutout in a 4-0 victory March 3.

He then closed the week with 29 saves in a 2-1 win over the Winnipeg Jets Sunday.

The 28-year-old has 16 victories this season with a 2.51 goals-against average, .919 save percentage and two shutouts in 45 appearances.

Winnipeg Jets centre Mark Scheifele was named the NHL’s second star, while San Jose Sharks defenseman Brent Burns was named third star.
