MONTREAL – A young family was rescued from a fire in a Côte-des-Neiges apartment building early Wednesday morning.
Firefighters were called around 2 a.m. to a blaze on Bedford Road and Darlington Avenue.

Three people, two aged six and ten and a 37 year-old woman were taken to hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.

Their lives are not in danger, according to police spokesperson Benoît Boisselle, who added the fire started in the basement of the building and quickly spread.
Firefighters said there are signs that it may have been deliberately set and the arson squad is investigating.
“They discovered some evidence in the basement, so that’s why we have the investigation now,” Boisselle told Global News.
