Edmonton police search for woman who tried to help downtown murder victim

EDMONTON- Police are asking the public for help as they try to track down a woman who helped provide first aid to a man who was shot and killed near the new downtown arena over the weekend.

On Tuesday, police said an autopsy confirmed 41-year-old Darren Douglas Sinner, of Edmonton, died of a gunshot wound after being found near the Rogers Place construction site early Sunday morning.

Investigators believe the violence may have erupted following a verbal exchange between Sinner and one or more suspects.

Police are now trying to find a woman they said helped a Baccarat Casino security officer administer first aid to Sinner. They said she may have information that could help with the investigation.

Anyone who may have heard or seen anything in the area of 104 Avenue and 101 Street at around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 21, is asked to call the Edmonton Police Service at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone.
