EDMONTON – Police are investigating a suspicious death near the city’s downtown core.
Officers were called shortly after 12:30 a.m. on Sunday to 104 Avenue and 101 Street where a man in his 40s was taken to hospital after an altercation with a group of people.
Police say shots were fired in the area at the time of the altercation.
The man passed away in hospital.
Police are searching for any individuals who may have provided help to the victim.
An autopsy has been scheduled for Monday. Details about the victim are not being released by police until next of kin have been notified.
Homicide detectives have taken over the investigation.
