NDP lose another MLA heading into the provincial spring election

Transcona MLA Daryl Reid says he will not be seeking re-election.

WINNIPEG — The Manitoba New Democrats have lost another candidate coming into the upcoming provincial election.

In a media release on Monday, Transcona MLA Daryl Reid announced he will not be seeking re-election.

the area has been represented by New Democrat Daryl Reid since 1990.

Reid was elected speaker of the house of the Manitoba Legislature in October 2011.

Last month,  Jennifer Howard, the NDP MLA for Fort Rouge, also said she isn’t seeking re-election.

Other NDP MLAs who are not running again include Theresa Oswald, Nancy Allan and Stan Struthers.

The provincial election will take place April 19.
