511 Alberta is asking motorists to report road conditions through a mobile app.
The Citizen Reporter app can inform the public about road conditions or weather that may affect their travels, but before you use it, you need to take an online training course.
Brian Mason, the minister of transportation, explained the province is hoping the app will be especially beneficial in the winter.

511 Alberta also has an updated webpage that can track the 600 snowplows that work on Alberta highways throughout the winter.
The app is available on iPhone and Android.
The government issued the reminder to only use these features when it is safe to do so, and not while driving.
