MONTREAL – Projet Montréal interim leader Luc Ferrandez confirmed he won’t be running for the party’s leadership again.

The Plateau Mont-Royal borough mayor was named leader after Richard Bergeron stepped down in October 2014, following an unsuccessful third run at the city’s top job.

Sunday, Ferrandez said he intends to stay with the party, despite not wanting to lead.

The city’s official opposition party could hold its leadership race as soon as this fall.
The next municipal election takes place in 2017.
