MONTREAL – Riverview Elementary School in A Verdun is another on the list of the Lester B. Pearson School Board’s chopping block.
The board announced in mid-December that they will have major school changes, resulting in the merger of some and the closure of others.
Many parents are outraged by the decision of the board and said there are always alternatives to shut downs.
The Lester B. Pearson Central Parents Committee has been pushing for an appeal and urging parents to get involved in the discussion.
Like many English schools in Montreal, dropping enrolment is a concern.
The school board estimates that it loses about 500 students a year to attrition.
