Fort Qu’Appelle man charged after fleeing collision

REGINA – A 20-year-old man has been charged after fleeing the scene of a collision on Jan. 1.

RCMP say the collision happened around 4:10 p.m. when a pickup truck travelling southbound on Highway 35 collided with an eastbound van on Highway 10 in Fort Qu’Appelle, Sask.

A 20-year-old man, who was the driver of the pickup truck, left the scene but was followed by a witness to a Fort Qu’Appelle residence.

Mounties went to the residence and arrested the man. He suffered from minor injuries, but was released from hospital into police custody.

The 21-year-old man and a 22-year-old man who were in the van were treated at the scene for minor injuries. Another 20-year-old man was transported to the All Nations Healing Hospital in Fort Qu’Appelle, and a 21-year-old woman went to Regina Hospital, also for undetermined injuries.

All of the van occupants were from Swan River, Manitoba. Both vehicles were heavily damaged.

The driver of the pickup truck, Tyrell Calvin Yeo, from Fort Qu’ Appelle, has been charged with Failing to Remain at the Scene of an Accident, two counts of Failing to Comply with Probation Order, Failing to Comply with Undertaking, and Public Mischief.

Yeo appeared in Fort Qu’Appelle Provincial Court Monday. He has been remanded and once again appear in court on Jan. 11.
