WINDSOR, Ont. — Animal welfare officials say a dog abandoned in Windsor, Ont., with its muzzle, paws and neck tightly wound with electrical tape, was discovered just in time.
The Windsor-Essex County Humane Society says a man found the small dog lying in the grass Thursday while he was walking his two dogs.
The society says the dog was unable to move, had difficulty breathing and his mouth and paws were extremely swollen. He was taken to a veterinarian.
Officials say the dog, that has since been named Justice, would likely not have survived more than a few more hours had he not been found. Even after the tape was removed, he was initially unable to stand and his mouth remains swollen.
It’s believed the male dog is about seven years old and was dumped on Wednesday evening or early Thursday. Vets expect him to make a full recovery.
The society wants to hear from anyone with information.
