LETHBRIDGE – A 37-year-old man is facing charges following the lockdown of a Lethbridge elementary school on Wednesday.
Police were called to Mike Mountain Horse School at around 10 a.m. MT after a man entered the school and indicated to staff that he was being chased and had a weapon.
Staff kept the man in an empty classroom and locked down the school.

Police took the suspect into custody without incident, and conducted a room-by-room search of the school to make sure no one else was in the facility.
Officers seized a hatchet from the suspect, which had been concealed in his coat.
On Thursday, the Lethbridge Regional Police Service announced Godfrey Adrian Shouting of no fixed address had been charged with possession of an offensive weapon dangerous to the public, carrying a concealed weapon and breach of an undertaking.
Shouting has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in court Dec. 21.
“An investigation is ongoing to determine why the male attended the school, but early indications suggest he may have been under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol,” said police in a news release.
No one was injured in the incident.
