Busted! Cocaine and cash seized, 11 people charged in northern Alberta

EDMONTON – Alberta law enforcement has charged eleven people and seized drugs and cash in Grande Prairie after a lengthy investigation.

On Nov. 19, nine people were arrested by ALERT and three homes were searched in the Grande Prairie area, where 740 grams of cocaine, $98,890 in cash and five vehicles were seized.

Warrants were also issued for two other people.

ALERT said the group was heavily involved in drug trafficking in the Grande Prairie area and Edmonton, and was using rural locations to hide drugs.

A total of 42 charges have been laid against the nine people arrested: Francois Regis Muhire, Kyler Samuel Schwartz, Douglas Gordon Hanks, Tavis Jared MacKinnon, Michael Anthony Teichreb, Kyle Reddick Primo, Thomas Scott McDonald, Kevin Giese, and Katelyn Diana Peacock.

Muhire and Schwartz were charged in a similar investigation a year ago.

ALERT began investigating the group again in August when it received information that the group had began to traffic drugs again.

Warrants were issued for Mahamed Abdulle Omer and Kahliid Usif Proctor, who are both men are 28 years old and from Toronto.

Anyone with information about Omer and Proctor is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.

The nine people arrested were all released on bail and are scheduled to be back in court on Jan. 6.
