Holy Cross Crusaders up against familiar foe in 4A provincial final

SASKATOON – The Holy Cross Crusaders have played in five city championships in a row and they’ve won in all five appearances. Winning the provincial title however proves to be much more elusive.

Saturday will mark the Crusaders fifth straight trip to the 4A provincial football championship. Holy Cross has lost on the big stage four years in a row, with the past three defeats coming against the Dr. Leboldus Golden Suns.

“It’s a great football program,” said Crusaders head coach Scott Hundseth, “but hopefully we don’t make as many mistakes down there as we have the past couple of years.”

After losing four consecutive times in the 4A provincial final, the Crusaders feel that they have suffered through enough heartbreak. Holy Cross is determined to bring home the championship trophy in 2015.

“Our team is good at battling back,” said Holy Cross Grade 12 running back Josh Ewanchyna. “We just have keep focused, keep our head in it and hopefully end up perfect this year.”
