Montreal police investigate fatal stabbing in Lachine

MONTREAL – Police are investigating the 25th homicide of 2015 on SPVM territory, after a 38-year-old man was fatally stabbed in Lachine.

Shortly before midnight on Friday, police were called to an apartment building on Sherbrooke Street near 14th Avenue.

According to officers, an argument between three people inside one of the units escalated and two people were stabbed.

A 38-year-old man later died of his injuries in hospital and a 55-year-old woman was taken to hospital in critical condition.

Police have confimed that the woman’s life is no longer in danger.

The suspect in the stabbings, a 42-year-old man, was also taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Police expect that he will be transferred to a detention centre for questioning later in the day.

A perimeter was erected around the building, as investigators and crime scene technicians sweep the area.

The relationships between the three individuals are unclear, but police confirm that they knew each other.

Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the altercation.
