Montreal police investigate city’s 22nd homicide

MONTREAL – The Major Crimes Unit is investigating the city’s 22nd homicide of they year after a man was stabbed early Sunday morning.

Shortly before 6:00 a.m. police officers discovered a man with apparent stab wounds to the upper body.

Officers found the man on St-Denis Street near Viger Street, but discovered that the attack took place in the nearby Viger Square.

The 45-year-old man was transported to hospital in critical condition and later died of his injuries.

A perimeter has been erected as investigators and crime scene technicians canvass the area.

Viger Street remains closed between Berri Street and St-Denis Street.
