Some Calgary elementary students enjoyed a chance Wednesday for some real hands-on learning.
It came to Olympic Heights School in the form of a giant “Energy Map,” designed to show the key role the energy industry plays in Canada.
The map is colour-coded to illustrate centres of oil, natural gas and hydro-electric power.
Canadian Geographic takes it around to schools across the country.
The organization’s Ellen Curtis brought it to Olympic Heights.
“Energy is such an important part of our everyday lives. So, it’s important that the kids realize what an important role Alberta plays,” said Curtis.
