SASKATOON – Long-time broadcaster Kevin Waugh has been elected in the new riding of Saskatoon-Grasswood for the Conservatives. Waugh beat out former cabinet minister Lynne Yelich to win the CPC nomination.
Waugh was being challenged by the Liberal’s Tracy Muggli, Scott Bell for the NDP and the Green Party’s Mark Bigland-Pritchard.
The riding for southeast Saskatoon, it includes everthing east of the South Saskatchewan River and south of 8th Street East, along with the area around Sidney L. Buckwold Park. It also includes a small amount of farmland immediately to the south and east of the city.
This is essentially the previous urban-rural riding of Blackstrap, stripped of 90 per cent of its rural population.
