Peggy Nash held the riding briefly from 2006 to 2008, lost it to Liberal Gerard Kennedy, then regained the seat again in the 2011 race. Polls showed the riding leaning back to the Liberals in 2015.
Prior to Nash’s win, the riding had elected Liberals steadily since 1979, except for a brief affair with the Progressive Conservatives between 1984-1988.
