While many were concerned over rumors the centre would close, councillor for the district Gloria McCluskey and other organizers insisted they were false.

“If this community centre was going to close, you would hear it from me first. It’s not closing,” said McCluskey

The meeting gave residents a chance to express their thoughts on how communities centres and programs should be implemented and run.

“I believe a community center is just that. It’s meant to be part of the actual community itself and not part of the bigger city or metro area,” said Bill Georgina.
