CALGARY – The father of a teenage boy hit and killed on his way to school last week is going public with his pain.
Nick Paswisty was trying to cross Erin Woods Boulevard at Erin Dale Crescent S.E. on Friday when he was hit by a white Mitsubishi Endeavor. Paramedics found the 16-year-old suffering from serious head injuries about 12 metres from a marked crosswalk. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Wes Stair, Nick’s father, said he’s still trying to make sense of what happened.
“What did I do wrong in my life that made this happen? You question your faith. I’m mad at God right now… it’s going to take some time to heal,” said Stair.
“It’s very easy to hate right now, but part of being a good dad is to forgive – even to the woman that hit my boy – we pray for her too. She’s been handed a life sentence as well, just like we all have. It’s very tough.”

Community members created a memorial in honour of Nick in the intersection where he was killed.
Area residents complain that motorists along Erin Woods Boulevard drive dangerously fast. They’ve created handmade signs pleading for drivers to slow down, placing them near the memorial.
