Discovery of explosives in Saskatchewan home leads to charges

A 39-year-old Yorkton man was arrested after he made threats to his former employer about using explosives to harm people. RCMP

YORKTON, Sask. – Police have laid two explosives-related charges against a Saskatchewan man who was allegedly threatening to cause harm.

RCMP say they got word on Tuesday about explosives in a Yorkton home owned by a man who had allegedly made threats against his former employer and others.

They say the owner was arrested after a search turned up a large quantity of explosives and other suspected stolen property.

Police photos released to the media show what appear to be several dozen sticks of material, along with a spool of wire.

James Patrick Loder, who is 39, is also charged with possession of property under $5000.

Loder has been released and will appear in a Yorkton courtroom again on Oct. 5.
