WATCH: RCMP say dog shot after it attacked police service animal

CALGARY –A video showing RCMP arresting a Saskatchewan man and shooting his dog last year has gone viral this week after being re-circulated online.

The video is from July 2014, when RCMP went to the Key First Nation to arrest 28-year-old Adam Cote. Warrants had been issued for Cote on numerous charges, including assault causing bodily harm, possession of a controlled substance and break and enter.

Cote was found hiding in a residence and was taken into custody. He suffered injuries during the arrest and received treatment in hospital.

Global News has received many emails and social media posts about the video in the last few days, after it was posted on LiveLeak.

When asked Tuesday, RCMP told Global News they addressed the incident and the video last year. RCMP said Cote’s court proceedings were complete and would not confirm how the incident played out or address RCMP protocol in such situations.

RCMP said the dog was shot and killed during the arrest after the animal attacked an RCMP police service dog.
