Halifax man facing charges after border agents find fentanyl in package
HALIFAX – RCMP say a 54-year-old Halifax man faces a charge of illegally importing the powerful synthetic drug acetyl fentanyl.
Police say Richard Dale States of Halifax was arrested without incident last Friday.
The Mounties say the arrest followed the interception of a package in Vancouver by the Canadian Border Services Agency.
Police allege the package was destined for Halifax and contained 514 grams of the drug.
States has been released and is scheduled to appear in a Halifax court Sept. 24.
Police say their investigation continues.
