Toronto police charge man with second-degree murder in fatal stabbing

TORONTO — Toronto police have charged a 25-year-old man with second-degree murder, after a man was found fatally stabbed inside an apartment building in St. James Town early Monday morning.

The incident happened just before 2 a.m. at 135 Rose Ave., near Bloor Street and Parliament.

Police said the victim was pronounced dead inside the building and another person suffered minor injuries.

On Thursday, police identified the victim as Jamie Foster, 27, and said an autopsy concluded the cause of death was multiple stab wounds.

Curtis Gordon Dawkins, 25, was arrested at the scene and charged with second-degree murder.

Police are asking anyone who may have known the whereabouts of Dawkins in the first days of August, up until Monday, to contact them.

Police say the men knew each other.
