KELOWNA –Have you seen the rainbow crosswalks in downtown Kelowna?
They’re the finishing touches to street and utility upgrades in the Lawrence Avenue and Pandosy Street area.
“Residents will notice that the pedestrian crossings vary from more traditional traffic markings and are painted in the colours of the rainbow,” says city spokesperson Tom Wilson.

He says the newly painted crosswalks are a visual demonstration of the community’s spirit of inclusiveness.

“Crosswalks like these celebrate diversity and can be found in several cities across Canada and North America including Vancouver, Victoria, Seattle and Philadelphia.”
Wilson adds the rainbow-coloured crosswalks are meant to encourage an accepting and welcoming community.
