TORONTO — Art Morin has spent the last 30 years waiting for an update on his daughter’s whereabouts.
Nicole Morin was just eight years old when she left her Etobicoke apartment to meet a friend for a swim — but she never turned up.

It was July 30, 1985 and it spawned one of the largest searches in Toronto police history.
Morin remembers getting the call.
“It’s like somebody hits you with a sledge hammer,” he said. “And you say, ‘Wow, what is going on in the world’ and I couldn’t believe that she wouldn’t turn up.”
He’s held out hope all these years, but despite many leads, his daughter has never been found.

“I still hold hope. You know, if you give up hope, how could you live with yourself?” Morin said.

“You can’t live with yourself if you lose your child and not worry.”
Morin still lives in the Etobicoke neighbourhood where his daughter was last seen and her picture is the first thing he looks at every morning. It hangs on the wall beside his bed.
Last year, Toronto Police released a re-enactment video of Nicole’s disappearance.
The video generated a tip which led police to a rural area near Barrie but nothing was found.
