MONTREAL – The field at Percival Molson Stadium was packed on Sunday afternoon as the Burgundy Lion Pub’s charity “Goal MTL” put on their sixth annual soccer tournament.
Organizers estimate that this year’s tourney will raise upwards of $40,000.
Proceeds will go directly to Tyndale St-Georges Community Centre, located in Griffintown, and the Montreal Community Cares Foundation, which supports the development of youth across the city.

Twenty-five teams battled it out on the pitch, 24 of which represented Montreal-area bars and restaurants. The other was an all-star team made up of local celebrities, including Global Montreal’s very own Camille Ross.
Ross said she was feeling awesome and was excited to part of the mix.
“Look at this place, it’s packed with people just willing to come out and help the community,” she enthused.
To date, over $125,000 has been raised by “Goal MTL” for non-profit organizations that help support families, youth, social activities and education.
For those unable to attend today’s festivities and who still wish to donate, “Goal MTL” has created a GoFundMe page.
