Calgary bar named among ‘greatest in the world’

CALGARY – A bar in southwest Calgary has made a list of the “greatest bars in the world.”

Milk Tiger Lounge, located in the 1400 block of 4 Street S.W., is among 30 spots mentioned on Condé Nast Traveler’s recently released list.

The UK travel magazine asked mixologists, bartenders and cocktail kingpins to submit their picks. Colin Tait, head bartender of Vesper Cocktail Bar & Restaurant in Bangkok, chose Milk Tiger.

“I know what you’re thinking—’Calgary, cocktails, eh?’—but this is a bar you can definitely call a home away from home,” Tait told the publication. “Milk Tiger is also a great place to meet people, a comfortable space that works for a quiet drink during the week and a bustling good time on Friday night.

Milk Tiger is the only Canadian establishment named on the list.
