Severe thunderstorm warning issued in west-central Saskatchewan

UPDATE: All watches and warnings mentioned in this story and blog have ended

SASKATOON – A portion of west-central Saskatchewan is under a severe thunderstorm warning. Environment Canada officials say conditions are favourable for dangerous thunderstorms to develop Wednesday afternoon and into the evening.

The storms may be capable of producing damaging wind gusts, damaging hail and heavy rain.

The agency says a warm and humid airmass persists over much of eastern and central Saskatchewan. Low pressure systems over western Saskatchewan will track eastward, increasing stability across the region and triggering strong thunderstorms.

All areas around Saskatoon are included in the watch, although one has not been issued for Saskatoon.
