Stolen car set on fire causes explosion in Harrietsfield, N.S.

HARRIETSFIELD, N.S. – Police say an explosion in Harrietsfield, N.S., was caused by a stolen vehicle that had been set on fire.

Halifax Regional Police found the 2009 Porsche Cayenne on fire on an isolated trail after responding to reports of a large explosion in the Brunt Road area at around 5 p.m. Saturday.

Halifax Regional Fire was able to put out the blaze and surrounding grass fires, but police say the SUV was destroyed.

Police say the Porsche had been reported stolen by the registered owner.

They say there were no injuries in the explosion or fire.

The police are continuing to investigate.
