TORONTO — TV personality and actor Dean McDermott said Thursday he and wife Tori Spelling are not expecting another child.

“It is nothing but a rumour,” he insisted during an appearance on Global’s The Morning Show. “There is no baby No. 5. We’re done.”

The 48-year-old Toronto native and Spelling have sons Liam, 8, and Finn, 2, and daughters Stella, 6, and Hattie, 3. McDermott also has a 16-year-old son, Jack, from his marriage to Canadian TV personality Mary Jo Eustace.

“It is a happy family,” said McDermott. “That’s where we are right now.”

McDermott and Spelling started an affair while shooting the 2005 TV movie Mind Over Murder in Ottawa — while he was married to Eustace and she was married to Charlie Shanian. They married in May 2006.

McDermott entered rehab to address alcohol and emotional issues.

“I’m in recovery. I’ve got a year and four months and counting,” he said on Thursday. “[I’m] just working on being a better person, better father, better husband, better human being.”

McDermott, who is back in his hometown to promote his cookbook The Gourmet Dad, said his marital woes have made the family stronger.

“Through all this tragedy and this horrible time that we went through we’ve really came out the other side better for it,” he said. “When something bad happens you always try to figure out why has this happened and where’s the good in it.

“Our relationship is stronger today because of it.”
