TORONTO — There was plenty of social media reaction to Bruce Jenner’s emotional interview on Friday’s episode of 20/20, in which the Olympic medal winner revealed: “For all intents and purposes I am a woman.”
In his conversation with Diane Sawyer, Jenner recalled how former stepdaughter Khloé Kardashian had struggled when he shared his truth with her. On Twitter, she seemed to give her full support.
So, too, did Kim Kardashian, who Jenner recalled had caught him wearing a dress.
Kourtney Kardashian took to Twitter to make it clear where she stands — firmly with her former stepfather.
Brandon Jenner tweeted simply: “Proud son.” And Bruce Jenner’s daughters with ex-wife Kris Kardashian shared their feelings on social media.
Kris Kardashian, whose divorce from Jenner after more than 22 years was finalized last December, tweeted a message of support.
In the special, Sawyer reported that Kris had given “no comment” to 20/20 but, in a Twitter response to blogger Perez Hilton, she said “no one asked me to comment.” She also indicated that she was watching the 20/20 interview with Bruce at her side.
During the interview, Jenner said he hopes people “have an open mind and an open heart.” A number of celebrities echoed that hope.
Celebrities of different generations and backgrounds offered Jenner support on Twitter. Here is a sampling of the reactions:
