TORONTO — Canada’s Evangeline Lilly figures prominently in the new trailer for Marvel’s Ant-Man.
The 35-year-old Alberta native, who grew up in B.C., punches Paul Rudd in the face while teaching his character, Scott Lang, the skills he will need as Ant-Man.
Lilly stars as Hope Van Dyne, daughter of Ant-Man originator Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas).

“The suit has power. You have to learn how to control it,” Lilly’s character explains to Lang. “When you’re small you have superhuman strength.”
Lilly is best known for her role on the TV series Lost and for playing Tauriel in the last two chapters of Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit trilogy.
Directed by Peyton Reed (Yes Man), Ant-Man was co-written by Rudd and Adam McKay (Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy) from a story developed by Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish.
The character first appeared in the Marvel universe in 1962.
The cast includes Corey Stoll, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Pena and Judy Greer.
Ant-Man is due in cinemas on July 17.
