WINNIPEG — The Goldeyes bring in another veteran presence with the acquisition of outfielder Mike Wilson. The 31-year-old was picked up in a trade with the Somerset Patriots of the Atlantic League in exchange for a player to be named later. Wilson also signed a contract with the Winnipeg Goldeyes for the 2015 season.

Wilson played briefly for the Seattle Mariners in 2011 where he appeared in 8 games hitting just .148 with three runs batted in. In 2014 Wilson appeared with three different teams including AAA Louisville of the International League, Monclova of the Mexican League and Somerset.

“We were looking for another middle of the lineup presence and we feel pretty confident we found that guy in Mike Wilson,” said Manager Rick Forney through a media release. “He’s going to help provide a lot of protection for the other power hitters in the middle of our lineup. Adding someone of his experience and stature certainly helps the ball club.”
