Peace Bridge glass damaged by vandals

CALGARY – Vandals have once again caused damage to Calgary’s Peace Bridge.

Small cracks are visible in two panels of tempered glass, which will be replaced later this spring.

Those who use the Peace Bridge say they can’t understand why anyone would vandalize it.

“It’s a beautiful piece of architecture,” one woman told Global News. “It’s really sad.”

The City of Calgary says in total, eight glass panels have been replaced since the Peace Bridge first opened on March 24th, 2012.

The city has a set of replacement panels in storage which they have been able to use at no extra cost to taxpayers.

They have 17 panels remaining, not including the two which have yet to be replaced.
