Police ask for help in Catherine Daviau case

MONTREAL – Nearly three years after her body was discovered in an apartment in Rosemont, Montreal police are asking for the public’s help in figuring out what happened to 27-year-old Catherine Daviau.

Daviau’s remains were found by firefighters on Dec. 11, 2008 after someone dialed 911 to report a fire at 5155 5th Ave. Her body was found on her bed and there were signs that she had been physically attacked, police said. Inspectors also suspected that she may have been sexually assaulted.

There was no sign of forced entry.

Police later determined that Daviau had been at work for most of the day, and drove home at about 4:30 p.m. via Highway 40 eastbound. She had also apparently used her cellphone at about 5:30 p.m. The call to 911 was made 90 minutes later by a neighbour.
