Montreal entrepreneur donates $1.5 million to McGill football program

MONTREAL – A McGill graduate and his wife are giving $1.5 million to the university’s football program.

The gift, the largest ever to any McGill varsity sports team, will establish the Bob and Sue Winsor Redmen Football Program Endowment.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

The money will be used to support coaching, player recruitment and program development.

Winsor, a native of Montreal, is owner, chairman and CEO of Holden America Inc., which is in the railway equipment business.

Winsor played defensive halfback and offensive end for the Redmen, helping the team win the Yates Cup in 1960.

It is just his latest donation to McGill.
