GALLERY: Playful pups enjoy weekend snowfall in Calgary

CALGARY – Old Man Winter’s attack on Calgary over the weekend may have been frustrating for drivers, but it did nothing to dampen the spirits of hundreds of dogs who happily played in the fresh snow.

Snow began falling in Calgary early Sunday morning, and had blanketed the city by the afternoon.

Calgary Mayor Naheed Nanshi took to twitter to ask dog owners to use the hashtag #YYCSnowPups to share photos of their canine companions playing in the winter weather.

Shortly after, the social media site exploded with hundreds of pictures of joyful Calgary dogs outside in the snow. At one point, the hashtag was even trending nationally.
