CALGARY- 39-year-old Jason Quinn Antonio has been identified as the person killed after a shooting in Calgary’s northeast on Saturday morning.
CPS members responded after reports that a man had been shot just before 10:00 A.M in the 300 block of Manora Crescent.
Police think that Antonio left his home and was in the back alley when he was shot.
So far there are no suspects but CPS says this was a targeted attack, not random.
Staff Sergeant Doug Andrus with CPS says officers are interested in information about a vehicle that was seen leaving the area near the time of the shooting.
“We have information that there was a silver SUV seen leaving the scene and we’re in the process of determining the relevance of that to our investigation,” Andrus told reporters Monday.
Surveillance video from houses in the neighborhood is also being reviewed.
CPS would not elaborate on Antonio’s past but according to court documents Antonio was arrested in September 2013 in connection with a drug bust that resulted in the seizure of more than 10 kilograms of meth.
He was charged with possession of drugs and possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking.
Shortly after the first call, officers were called to a second home several blocks away.
A resident claimed that a shot was fired through the window of their home.
CPS is in the process of conducting ballistic testing to confirm whether the damage to the home is connected with the homicide.
Jason Antonio is Calgary’s 27th homicide victim of 2014.
