WINNIPEG – Police cruisers surrounded an east Winnipeg high school Wednesday after a stabbing in the area.
Police confirmed officers were on scene at Elmwood High School at 505 Chalmers Ave. for a report of a male stabbed. Paramedics were directed to the school office to treat the victim, who was rushed to hospital in critical condition.

It appeared the stabbing happened elsewhere in the neighbourhood and the victim made his way to the high school office to ask for help.
Police say they got the first call about the stabbing at 3:40 p.m. Classes ended at the school at 3:30.

Global News has learned the victim is a 15 year old boy who is a student at Elmwood High School. There were reports a suspect was taken into custody nearby, but there was no official confirmation from police.
