REGINA – Construction on the new Regina football stadium is well underway since breaking ground in June.
“I want to stress very clearly that this is part of our revitalization for downtown. It’s the first phase for redevelopment for our city and this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” Said Mayor Fougere.
Two cranes are now on site, with another two arriving next month. More than half of the excavation work is already complete.
Crews had to pump out a lot of water this summer with all the rain, and they’re now gearing up to work throughout the winter.
“We’re hoping for a mild winter as I think we all are. But we will forge through whatever the winter brings, which will just mean heating and hoarding,” stated PCL construction manager Sean Hamelin.
“So, a lot of insulated tarps and propane and natural gas heaters to be able to protect the concrete as it cures.”
The project remains on time and on budget and is expected to be complete in August of 2016.
