TORONTO — Joan Rivers‘ personal physician took a “selfie” while the comedian was under anesthesia, according to a report Tuesday.
CNN reported the unidentified doctor snapped a pic with the star before performing an unauthorized biopsy on Rivers in a procedure room at Yorkville Endoscopy.
Rivers went into cardiac arrest on Aug. 29 and was rushed to hospital, where she died a week later.
The 81-year-old comic had reportedly undergone an endoscopy by gastroenterologist Dr. Lawrence Cohen before Rivers’ doctor decided to perform a biopsy on her vocal chords.
According to CNN, investigators believe Rivers’ vocal chords began to swell during the biopsy and cut off the flow of oxygen to her lungs.
Yorkville Endoscopy said in a statement last week a biopsy was not done at the clinic.
