SASKATOON – The driver of a car that was struck by a train in Saskatoon Thursday afternoon is facing charges.

Police say the 25-year-old woman tried to get by other vehicles that had stopped at a lighted train crossing on Fairlight Drive waiting for a train to pass.

Her car was hit by the slow moving westbound Canadian Pacific train and dragged about 200 metres before coming to a stop.

She received minor injuries and was taken to hospital as a precaution.

Police say alcohol was not a factor.

C.P. police are now investigating and charges are pending.
