REGINA – A face-lift could be on the way for benches and garbage containers in downtown Regina.

The downtown business improvement district says much of the street furniture is near the end of its lifecycle.

It wants to spend about $50,000 to decide on a new style of furniture.

Currently there are less stringent standards for how benches and signs should look.

“Now would be a good time to make an investment in that furniture and determine a consistent style and feel that can be implemented throughout downtown,” said Judith Veresuk of the Regina Downtown Business Improvement District.

“This is so we don’t have 20 different styles of benches, depending on where you are, that are all in different states of disrepair.”
