Okanagan paralympians celebrated

VERNON — A warm welcome Wednesday for two local paralympians.

Okanagan gold medallists and Olympic flag bearers Sonja Gaudet and Josh Dueck were recognized for their achievements in Vernon with a celebration at a local bank branch.

The decorated athletes also took some time to tell their Sochi experiences and share what’s up next in their sporting careers.

Gaudet, the world’s most awarded wheelchair curler, was the opening ceremony flag bearer.

Dueck, who won a gold and silver at the 2014 games, was the flag bearer for the closing ceremony.
