Huskies women’s basketball team in Canada West final

EDMONTON – The University of Saskatchewan Huskies women’s basketball team have advanced to the Canada West final after upsetting the Regina Cougars 64-52 on Friday night.

With the win, the sixth-ranked Huskies automatically advance to the women’s CIS Final 8 tournament next week in Windsor, Ont.

Dalyce Emmerson led the way with 17 points and seven rebounds. Fourth-year guard Riley Humbert added 10 points, three rebounds and three assists.

The Huskies will now take on the fifth-ranked Fraser Valley Cascades in Saturday’s championship game starting at 6 p.m. CST.

The fourth-ranked Cougars will face the third-ranked University of Alberta Pandas in the third place game, with the winner advancing to the national championships next week.
