Canadian improv performer Stacey McGunnigle lands U.S. comedy pilot

TORONTO — Stacey McGunnigle, a performer from The Second City Toronto, has landed the lead role in a new U.S. sitcom pilot.

The Alliston, Ont. native will star in Ellen More of Less, a single-camera comedy that is being considered as a series by NBC.

McGunnigle will play an average-size woman who starts reinventing her life after losing 100 pounds.

In addition to performing with The Second City, McGunnigle has an online video series, Stacey Helps. She was nominated last year for two Canadian Comedy Awards — Best Female Improviser and Best Breakout Artist.
